Patio Door Shutters on Track System in Cotgrave, Nottinghamshire
We recently helped transformed the home of Jeremy and Roseanne with a number of plantation shutters. These were fitted to cover a patio door, leading to the garden, as well as more conventional window shutters in other rooms throughout the house.
This lovely couple had recently moved into a new build by Barratt Homes in Hollygate Park, Cotgrave. Jeremy and Roseanne had retired from running a Post Office and Gift Shop in Lincolnshire, and moved to the Nottingham area to be closer to some of their children and grandchildren.
In the heart of the home is an open plan kitchen/diner with a large floor to ceiling box bay window, which included patio doors leading out to the garden. As they needed the access into the garden, the couple needed flexibility in whichever solution they chose to suit their tastes.
As it was so large, Jeremy and Roseanne didn’t know what to use to dress the window. However, they knew they wanted something to help the room feel warmer and cosier, especially with winter coming up.
Based on discussions during the couple’s free home appointment, we fitted an 8-panel free-floating bi-fold track system across the front to give maximum adaptability. The free-floating option on the track means that the panels are not hinged to the sides. This means that they can be moved to either side, providing the access required for the couple to get to the garden easily.
Due to the size of the window, we helped the couple settle on the Bermuda range. Crafted from a blend of painted MDF components with ABS louvres, the panels are lighter than the fully MDF Antigua range.
In addition to the tracked shutters, on each side return we also fitted two bi-fold full height panels in a frame. The mid-rail was placed at the same height as the track, providing a unified look.
Jeremy and Roseanne chose Bisque for the colour of the shutters as it matched the kitchen units in the room. This also helped provide the look that they were trying to achieve.
76mm louvres gave the right balance between light control and privacy, with a silent tilt mechanism also added to provide control, rather than a visible tilt rod, giving a tidy finish to the shutter panels.
Enhancing the stability of the taller panels, as well as increasing the light control options, a mid-rail was added to the shutters. This addition means the lower louvres could be closed while the upper ones remained open.
Here is what they had to say:
“We are delighted with the shutters and the service you have provided. We are quite happy for you to bring prospective customers round to view our shutters if it will help clinch a deal and it will give us a chance for a coffee and a catch up with you. Good luck with the business.”
We also fitted shutters to two additional windows, one in the kitchen and one in the hall.
